Hi,

My passport has been stamped ECR (issued in the year of 2004). I've taken temporary ECNR status from POE office , Chennai through an agent and i shall do my journey on march 11th'2013. Can you please answer me four of my queries: 1) Can i get a ECNR endorsed passport from Indian embassy (Malaysia) after going there with temporary ECNR ? If not,will i get temporary ECNR again during going back to Malaysia from India ? (i'm eligible for ECNR status at present) 2) Any return ticket is required to produce at emmigration counter at airport? 3) My actual job profile at malaysia isn't reflected properly in temporary ECNR as my agent has given wrong information during filling up the temporary ECNR application form. My confusion is , will i face any problem at emmigration counter in airport? Will they wish to see my job contract/vissa offer letter at emmigration counter ? 4) I don't know how temporary ECNR is actually looking. My idea was, it should have been stamped. But my agent has given me a print out of temporary ECNR attached with my passport (though stamped by the POE office). Is that properly done or not ?

For your information: i have a valid single entry vissa for issue of employment pass at Malaysia.

  1. You can get passport reissued from Indian embassy in Malaysia with ECNR status. If not taken, you may get passport reissued in India when you are back here or again get temporary suspension or emigration clearance
  2. I believe, temporary suspension is valid only for single visit. Return tickets may be required in this case. Emigration clearance from PoE office does not need return tickets and is a better option.
  3. They may ask for job contract at airport. It all depends on their mood.
  4. I also got temporary suspension done in 2006 for Malaysia on my passport. At that time, it was stamped in the passport. See image below for same.

Thanks pankaj...One more query: should i take another temporary ECNR with actual information ? What you suggest? I dont know whether getting another temporary ECNR is possible or not right now..please advise.

I think, there should not be much issue with existing temporary suspension.
