I was keen to know if there exist any gold investments which help me save tax when invested for a particular lock in period. Also considering todays conditions of the market is it wise to invest in gold? or Mutual funds?

there is no such Gold ELSS fund in the market. Not more than 10 percent of your portolio should be allocated to gold. and buy the gold thru ETF(GOLD BEES). if you have a demat account. if you dont have a demat account buy some gold mutual funds are there.
We can use mutual funds for achieving our long term goals.
