HRA can be Claimed with House Loan Claim in Tax Rebate?

Dear Sir,

I am working in construction company. For this I have to stay away from my home. 3 Years back I have taken Home Loan for construction of my House. After 2 years it was ready to move in house. But due to my work I am unable to stay there. I have to live in Some different Place / City. In my new constructed house my parents are staying & I live with my wife in rented house in other city.

I have a Question can I claim both HRA & House loan Installments Amount in Tax Rebate? In the Financial Year 2011 - 12, I had claimed both, but company ruled out for my House Loan Amount in Tax Rebate by saying that now you had occupied your newly constructed house so you will not get rebate for this. They also said that government is only giving 2 Years for taking this Rebate against Home Loan.

Thanking You,

With Regards,

As your owned house is not in same city where you work, you should be able to take tax benefit for both HRA as well as home loan interest/principal payments.
