NRI days calculation

Hi,

My name is venkat and I am employed on foreign flag ship. I use to do 3 months on off trip. This year I am short of 10 days to complete magic 184 days to get NRI status. I want to save income tax on my salaries. If I go to Thialand/ srilanka or nepal for these 10 days for vacations, do it help to complete my 184 days.

Can anyone help?

The Law does not say anything regarding the country or the purpose of visiting that country.

If you are outside India for any reason whatsoever - the duration of stay outside India would be taken into account while calculating your residential status.
