My son has a passport with ”ECNR” penned through. He has to proceed to Malaysia for an assignment entrusted by his company. Earlier he visited Belgium on his company’s job. It appears that he has to get the ECR deleted now. Will you please advise what he has to do for ECNR stamping and the ECR-provision deleted? Is there a form for making the application to the Regional Passport Office? He got his passport from the Regional Passport Office, Calcutta in 2004.

Passport offices have stopped providing ECNR stamp on existing passports, instead passports are being re-issued with ECNR status.
Your son would have to apply for re-issue of passport with reason change in particulars/ECR deletion. For more information, Check new passport seva portal.
