Querry on House Rent paid

Dear Pankaj,

I am living in a rented house and I get HRA of 40% of my annual gross. Till now I was getting the benifit of house rent paid. All I want to know is whether or not the new code will allow exepmtion on House rent paid? Also is there any change proposed? Any advise will be appriciated.

As of now, Direct tax code draft is silent on HRA exemption. That means it will continue as it is even after DTC.
