Also what are the key metrics to look at before buying an infrastructure bond?

As of now there are not any open issues for tax saving infrastructure bonds. As these were for tax saving purposes, most of them closed by 31st March, 2011.

You can compare rate of interest and whichever gives best return can be chosen.

For FY 2012-13, 80CCF section (tax saving infra bonds) has been removed.
