Last date for tax filing for self employed professionals

Hi Pankaj,

I am a self employed doctor. I do not run my own clinic but I free lance/consult at multiple hospitals. These hospitals pay me on a fees sharing arrangement and deduct a 10% TDS on my earnings. One hospital where I consult has not provided me form 16 and I checked form 26 AS, they have not deposited tax from sep 2013 to march 2014 though the same has been deducted from my earnings. They have told me that the last date for filing returns for self employed professionals is sep 30th hence we will give you form 16 later. Is this correct? secondly if I want to file tax, can I do so using pay slip as the basis of showing how much tax was dedcuted by employer even though they have not deposited the amount.

Best Regards, Dr Harsh

If your accounts are not required to be audited, then last date would be July 31 only. Else, it would be September 30.
