Home loan interest & HRA deduction

I have my own flat which is around 8-9 km from my company. I have given my flat on rent. Currently i am staying in company premises. I am claiming full interest deduction benefit in this scenario. But i am paying perquisites tax for using company provided house/facilities.

Now due to some personal family reasons, I want to stay on rent in a property which is around 9 km from my company ( but in other direction).

Can I claim both full interest benefit & HRA benefit?

Thanks. I have one more query. Even after having my own property which is at 8 km from my company, can I stay rented in other property which is within 2-4 km distance to company or to my own property? And claim both HRA & Full interest deduction. What is the limit for distance?

There is no fixed rule. If called for scrutiny, you will have to answer assessing officer why you have taken house on rent. At that time you can say house is small or parents are living in it etc.

If you show own house as not self-occupied and want to claim full interest deduction, you would need to show rental income of the house. In that case, there should not be much issues in claiming both home loan interest and HRA benefits.
