This allowance is exempt only to the extent of actual expenditure incurred. So if bills are provided for same, it would become non-taxable.

Pankaj, I understand there is an exeption limit of Rs 18000 per year in permisible for uniform expenses & this laundary expenses comes under this category. Pl correct me if I am wrong. Regards

As per section 10(14)(i), such allowances are exempt, subject to actual expenses incurred. So there is no max limit defined as such. Check page 25 of official salaried income taxation booklet: http://incometaxindia.gov.in/Archive/Taxation_Of_Salaried_Employees_18062012.pdf
