Uniform Allowance

I have a uniform allowance in my salary component. I have receipts of clothes purchases(myself). But the company now says that i cannot claim this. Because company has not defined any specific dress code apart from any formals every day and casuals on Saturday. What are the things that are required to claim this allowance for me? And things required by company to allow/ prove this allowance ?

Its totally dependent on employer if they accept bills for reimbursement or not as uniform allowance is not a standard income tax deduction/exemption as per IT rules.

Companies adjust it in their expenses and its not shown as a part of employee income. Uniform allowance may be more suitable for workers in a factory, working in security agencies etc where dress is required.

You should ask your employer this question that what bills they need for making it non-taxable.
