I am in the Merchant navy, I have travelled 2 times in the current financial year. I would like to know that whether date of travel( date of leaving India, date of arriving India) is included in the calculation of NRI days. 1st trip 10 April (Date of leaving India) - 17 April (date of arrival in India) 2nd Trip 23 June (Date of leaving India) - 30 November (date of arrival in India ) PLease advise as it would helpme in scheduling my next tenure depending on the number of days I am short for NRI asked Feb 06 '13 at 11:04 by shakti3614 1●1●1●1 |
Day of arrival into India and day of departure from India is counted as one day each in India. So these 4 days would be counted as you were in India. answered Feb 13 '13 at 02:05 by Pankaj Batra 5.2k●3●20 |
As per the General clauses Act-1897 commencement and termination of time illustrated as "excluding the first in a series of days or any other period of time" for the purpose of. to use the word "from'; and, for the purpose of including the last in a series of days or any other period of time, to use the word "to". Hence the date of arrival does not count for the period of stay in India. Hence 2 days to be taken answered Sep 25 '18 at 16:20 by hareendranath 1●1 |
