Income tax return form does not have a provision to claim exemption for LTA and medical bills. These should be provided by employer only.

If you decide to reduce taxable income by that amount and file returns, there would be mismatch in form-16 taxable income (on which employer deposits TDS) and what you declare. In this case IT department may send you notice to explain the difference.

Thanks a lot for the response. But I read in a article that there is a Supreme Court ruling...which states that the companies are optional to collect the LTA bills. The Article is on the below link http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2009-01-29/news/28470502_1_lta-conveyance-travel-allowance Now, you don't need proof to claim LTA, conveyance Sanjay K Singh, ET Bureau Jan 29, 2009, 12.54pm IST (Monitor your financial health Why be a wealth manager!) Ruling says employer need not to collect bills. But employee must claim travel done and medical bills (claim may be without original bills, like details of travel and dates etc). Its the employer only who can process LTA claim and medical reimbursements.
