Short Term Capital Gain on F&O and Mutual Fund

Hi Pankaj,

This year I had LOSS of Rs.50,000 in F&O trading and short term Mutual Fund profit Rs. 89,000.

So I will have to pay my short term capital gain on 89000? or 39000(89000-50000)? Also what % tax I will have to Pay on short term gain?

Thanks, Ashvin D

Income/loss from futures & options (F&O) is treated as normal business income/loss. It cannot be set off against short term capital gains from mutual fund.

You can carry forward same to next years and setoff against any income in business/F&O later.
