80DD or 80DDB

Dear Pankaj, Thanks for answering my question. But i havea few more questions...

80DD says for Handicapped dependents, And 80DDB says for specified diseases. My father who is 70+ & is completely bed ridden, with no self movement is also suffering from Parkinson Disease. Now the main question is

  1. Should i claim under 80DD or 80DDB or Both
  2. And is it Compulsory to produce Bills of purchase
  3. Can i get 100% tax relief benefit even if there are No bills or Bills of Less value.

You can surely claim tax deduction under section 80DDB as Parkinson's disease is included in section. Max deduction available here would be Rs 60,000 against actual expenses only. If expenses are less, deduction would only be available against that amount. If asked by IT department, you will have to produce bills.

I am not sure if it comes under disability rule u/s 80DD. You should get a disability certificate from Govt medical officer. If he provides same, then you can claim additional Rs 50,000 (or 1 lakh in case medical officer declares disability as severe). This deduction does not need expense proofs.
