LTA proofs

Hi Pankaj,

I read one of your articles saying that the employee will not have to submit proofs as evidence for getting LTA.

Can you please confirm on this as I would like to apply for LTA and save the tax as well? I joined the company in November 2011, and my LTA is of 46000, and I am in 20 % slab. I have recently taken five days leave and went to a small vacation in my own car. As far as submitting proof is concerned, I can manage the air ticket but the company wants a boarding pass along with Ticket, which is impossible for me. And if I think for railway or bus ticket then prices are less and does not help me in saving. Please guide and let me know if you need any answers from me. Regards, AC

Even if submitting travel proofs to employer is not mandatory, you should be having same. It may be asked by IT department later in case they raise a query.

As such there is no exemption available on traveling by own car.
