Need Advise!!

I'm NRI, i've an excess amount of Rs. 1 Lac which i dont need for another 1-2 years. i'd like to invest this sum in SBI Magnum FMCG (D) fund coz. for the last 5 years fund has given very good returns compared to other large & mid cap equity funds. any suggestion..

Its a sector specific fund and may be risky in nature.

Sector may be hit due to government policies and other factors and may not perform well in future. If you already have enough investments in diversified portfolio, then only you should think about different sectors.

if you are sure you need the 1 lac after 2 years, its best to avoid equity funds altogether and just put it in a FD or FMP.

For small period of investment like 2 years it would be better to stay away with equity investments. They may give you negative returns in a shorter period. You may choose to invest into Fixed deposits, Debt mutual funds or Fixed maturity plans.
