proof for shortest route

Hi Pankaj,

Arjun this side, thank you for running this wonderful blog. I gathered from different articles on the internet that only the shortest route is reimbursed for LTA. I am a bit confused as to how would that be calculated, or rather how do I claim the appropriate amount in my case.

I travelled from Delhi to Goa and back however my itinerary was:

Delhi to Kozhikode – Airfare INR 11K

Kozhikode to Goa - Train (2A) 1.5K

Goa to Delhi – Airfare 10K

Per my understanding I can claim Delhi to Goa airfare (I don’t know what that amount would be & what proof would suffice) & Goa to Delhi (I have proof and I actually travelled).

Please could you help me if my understanding is correct and what I should do?

Thanks for your help,

You should go ahead and claim your travel expenses as reported by you. Proof you have (Delhi to Kozhikode, Kozhikode to Goa and Goa to Delhi) would be accepted.

Out of 22.5K, employer should approve minimum 20K as non-taxable (2 x Goa-Delhi airfare).
