Tax exemption on education fee

Sir, I am paying Rs 40000 as education fee, Rs 5000 as one time admission fee, Rs 12000 as development fee, Rs 28000 as hostel fee & Rs 10000 as security deposite for my daughter (Studying in Class VI), please tell me whether I can claim any exemption on any of the above mentioned amount, If yes, under which section.

I am already getting exemption of Rs 100 p.m. only as children education allowance (i.e. Rs 1200 for 1 year)

You can claim deduction u/s 80C for tuition fees paid. Fees paid excluding any payment towards development fees, donation, hostel fees, security deposit or payment of similar nature is allowed for deduction.

Sir, Thanks for prompt reply. I understand, I can claim Rs 40000 (Education fee)+Rs 5000 (One time admission fee u/s 80C. i.e. total Rs 45000/- only. In one of previous queries, you had mentioned that admission fee can also be claimed u/s 80C. Pl confirm. Regards, Vikas Sighal

Yes, admission fees can also be claimed for deduction.
