NPS opening query

Hi Pankaj, I am planning to open a NPS account. But I am confused about where to open. Should I go for SBI? or I can go for any pvt bank like ICICI. Kindly guide me on the issue. Thanks, PP

There won't be much difference between opening NPS account through SBI or ICICI. They are just Point of presence and actual account would be maintained with CRA and NSDL only.

Account maintenance charges, contribution charges etc are same with all POPs.

NPS is a good plan to invest into. First it provides tax saving and it would be one of the few tax saving options left after Direct tax code is applicable. Its a long term investment tool for retirement where most of amount cannot be withdrawn before 60 years. It also allows to invest into equities, debt and bonds.
