Carrying old Passport for Schengen Visa

I have submitted my Valid New Passport for the Schengen Visa to the Consulate of France. I have been asked to carry the old Passport at the time of Interview for Schengen visa. If I do not have the my Old passport with me, what will be the implications at the Interview. or wil they ask for any other formalities if I donot have th eold passport?.. My wife does have her Old passport with her who is also appearing there for the Visa.

All old passports must also be carried with new passport at all times. In case of not showing older passport, they may deny visa.

Thanks a lot Pankaj for your answer. Luckily I was not asked for anything during the interview and given the Visa straight away. I carried an Affidavit with me declaring that I never travelled on my old passport. Anyway thanks again for your lind efforts. This requirement is mandatory at the consulate of France only at Mumbai and other city consulates ask for copy of visa only if you have valid/expired visa of other countries. Chetan
