HI Pankaj.

Need help. i have got a job opportunity in dubai . Unfortunately MY passport has ecr required, its an pre 2007 issued passport. i was reading various articles on how to get ecr deleted & duly confused now.

a. Do i need to get a fresh passport issued or its just a process of submitting relevaent docs & getting ecr deleted which i read is 2 - 3 days. is that true.

b. once i have a valid work visa , can i go to the poe office & get a temporary suspension of ecr...what is the duration for this.

i have travelled to UAE earlier on tourist visa. i assume that doesnt help for job visa.

If you want ECNR status, you would need to get passport reissued.

You can also get temporary suspension from PoE office by showing visa. Its valid for one time.

Thanks Pankaj for the quick response but i checked with the poe office & they need valid hard copy of original visa & employement contract duly attested by the indian embassy in UAE.

I checked with my employer & they can only provide me with a electronic visa. is this visa valid to get ecr deletion.

Also my employer said that they cant provide me with pink slip ...what does that mean.

As per PoE website, following documents are needed:

  • Passport (valid atleast for six months)
  • Valid Employment Visa
  • Contract Duly Signed by Foreign Employer
  • Valid Pravasi Bhartiya Bima Policy 2006
  • Affidavit from Candidate Declaring Genuineness of Documents
