Hi,

Can any one help me ,how and when to submit proofs of last-minute investments while e-filing tax return. My last minute tax investment of 20K is not shown in your Form 16 against the full limit of 1L Rs and the original 80K only are there. I had done the e-filing ,but no where they asked for the supporting proof submission. If not Is it needed to do IT filing manually?

There is no need to submit investment proof while income tax return filing. Just declaration of investment under different sections like 80C is enough.

If income tax department has some doubts on your declarations, they can ask for proofs later on.

Hi,

Can some one help me, i had not submitted my rent receipts and investment proof to my company, can i now claim that amount as tax refund when i file my ITR, i now have the documentation/proof of rent recepits and investment documents.

Exemption for HRA should be provided by employer only. There is no option to claim for it in ITR forms. So you can now only reduce taxable part of income by HRA exemption you want and file return. If IT department sends back notice then you will have to explain why HRA exemption was not provided by employer.

Deduction of investments u/s 80C can be taken while income tax return filing. You need to declare same in ITR and there is no need to submit any proof for same along with ITR.
