I am an engineer and my passport is issued on 8/3/2011 from jaipur, Rajasthan. I am going to Muscat, Oman for job. My company has asked for getting ECNR on my passport. My 2nd page of passport is empty and i do not have any visa or sponsorship or ticket uptill now.

I am confused what is ECNR & ECR which should i get on my passport. Am i eligible for ECNR on my passport? what documents are required by me to get ECNR/ECR on my passport and how much time will it take?

For all passports issued after January 2007, a Blank page 2 on passport is deemed to have been ECNR endorsed.

So, there is nothing needs to be done now regarding ECNR.

If there is nothing mentioned on second page, its a blank page and with ECNR by default.
