Error in Form 16 and filed return on the basis of Form 16

Sir,

I have filed income tax return based on the Form 16 issued by my employer in which the HRA Exemption was shown under Deductions of Chapter VIA as other deductions and filed return of income through electronic efiling yesterday by including the total deductions u/Chapter VIA as 80C Deduction...

The form 16 issued by the employer would get me refund of Rs.10,000/- odd...

Shall I need to file revised return? or shall the form 16 issued by the employer forms the basis for my computation in filing the ROI and is valid in getting my refund?

HRA exemption should be provided u/s 10 and not under chapter VIA. As this is error on part of your employer who issued form-16, please get a fresh corrected form-16 issued from them.

You should file a revised return based on your own computations. Form-16 is just a tax certificate and cannot be treated as final document in income tax computation.

shall i need to file revised return or original return only as the filed ack. was not sent to IT, Bangalore.... Further, the amount i received was less than the computation shown in Form 16 can i make my own computation based on the salary received and file return of Income?

You need to file revised return. Use original filing ack number in revised too. Yes, you can compute income tax yourself and file income tax return if you think form-16 does not have correct entries.
