I have mistakenly set my LTA to 2000 per annum instead of 2000 per month. Can i claim LTA exemption of more than Rs 2000

Hi, I have mistakenly set my LTA to 2000 per annum instead of 2000 per month. My company does not allow me to update the break up of benefits. I had the option to select the LTA and other benefits on my own. I cant rectify this mistake as the cutoff to do any changes has passed. I can only update it for next year. I wanted to know that is there any means by which i can claim a higher LTA i.e. more than 2000. I have plans to spending aroung 20,000 on travels this year.

This issue can only be sorted out with your employer.

As LTA is a employer provided benefit, it cannot be claimed while filing income tax return. Whatever is exempted by employer will be treated final.
